Sunday began the New Year in the church, which begins with the season of Advent. The definition of advent is a period of waiting for a noble person, thing or event. In the Christian church, we are both waiting and anticipation the celebration of our Savior birth/arrival on Christmas and His second coming. Most of the hymns we sing during advent point to his coming birth but you may notice the theme of the second coming throughout many of the songs.
